Cost:
Members $695 / Non-Members $995

Take a proactive approach to employee education by sending your field managers to this class, which focuses on communication and management skills. Foremen often have excellent roof system installation skills but may lack strong communication and management abilities that would help them lead more effectively. This course teaches your foremen how to communicate effectively and work well with all types of people. Your foremen will learn how to handle tough situations tactfully, especially when disciplinary action is needed. They also will learn how to establish credibility, build rapport with crew members and motivate workers to improve job-site productivity.

About the instructors:

Amy Staska, vice president of NRCA University

Amy has been with NRCA since August of 2011 and also worked for the association for seven years from 1996 to 2004. Amy has worked in training and education her entire career, including at Awana Clubs International—a non-denominational children’s and youth Christian ministry—and the University of New Hampshire.

At NRCA, Amy started her work in health and safety—her first projects were helping to author NRCA’s first Safety Manual and Toolbox Talks. As part of the education department, Amy has helped with the startup of the Future Executives Institute and shaping and teaching the Foreman Leadership Training programs.

Amy’s current responsibilities include leading the education department team, spearheading development of TRAC training for installers and working with the NRCA University Operations Committee to ensure all NRCA University offerings are well-developed, thorough and meet member needs.
