Our Mission and Commitment

The International Roofing Expo is proud to continue our Sustainability Program at the 2023 event. We recognize our trade show has an impact on the environment. Through our Sustainability Program, we are striving to identify, understand, and address these impacts to achieve continual improvement year after year.

Guided by the Informa Markets FasterForward Program, IRE 2023 will strive to improve the sustainability of the Roofing Industry and our events.

Our Three Pledges

Environmental Responsibility

Our first aim is to run our events in an environmentally responsible manner.

Social Responsibility

Our second aim is to turn our events in a socially responsible manner.

Inspiring Sustainable Development

Our third aim is for our events to inspire sustainable development.

What's New to IRE 2023!

This year, we are challenging our attendees, exhibitors, partners, and vendors to be the most sustainable! Here are some new initiatives we are implementing in 2023!

What We Are Doing:

  • Recycling printed signage – As an annual event, we make sure to develop printed materials that can be reused or recycled
  • Reducing printed materials & implementing digital wayfinding – We’re heavily reducing printed materials and event guides in
favor of using the mobile app.  We are making the expo hall floor plan and agenda available right on the show floor
  • Terracycle recycling bins – Recycle your badges and lanyards at one of the Terracycle bins in the main lobby and you could win
    a $100 gift card!
  • Replacing single-use water bottles – We are giving our staff and speakers reusable water bottles instead of single-use plastic
    containers
  • Utilizing digital signage – We are replacing traditionally printed signage with digital options where possible

About the Event

Each year the International Roofing Expo partners with a local chapter of the non-profit organization Rebuilding Together to help make
critical home repairs for low-income local community members in need, including veterans, the elderly, and the disabled. The annual IRE Community Service Day Project consists of a volunteer day, monetary donations, and sponsor donations.

Volunteer Day

For our volunteer day, IRE attendees and exhibitors sign up to physically work making the repairs to homes or other local community projects. The volunteer day is held a day before the show opens.

Donations

During registration and on our website, IRE attendees and exhibitors can make a monetary donation to help us raise $15,000 to assist with
the cost of the home repairs. The International Roofing Expo also makes a monetary donation each year to the project.

Sponsors

The IRE works with various sponsors to help raise money for the project, secure donated supplies, and help cover the volunteer day's expenses. In addition, each year, we work with companies to donate the labor and supplies to replace one or more roofs for people in need.

Terracycle recycling bins

Recycle your badges and lanyards at one of the Terracycle bins in the main lobby and you could win a $100 gift card!

Our host venue

At the request of the IRE, the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center will monitor and track the volume of waste and recycling. These initiatives have been implemented to focus on the waste diversion rate and divert as much waste from the show from the Dallas, TX landfills as possible. The lobbies and outside all meeting rooms. Freeman, our general service contractor, will partner with United to provide recycling cans on the expo floor. There will also be recycling cans inside meeting rooms and IRE-contracted spaces.

Booth Furnishings & Carpet

We use pre-cut to length tabletop vinyl, reusable drapery, wooden tables, and biodegradable trash can liners. We do not
required booth carpet at the IRE. All carpet, padding, and plastic covering used contain recycled content and are reusable and/or recyclable.

Registration

We have moved to 100% online registration, eliminating the need for printed onsite registration forms.

Exhibitor Service Manuals

Exhibitor Service Manuals (ESMs) are made available electronically via our website to reduce paper waste.

Show Program and Floor Plans

To help reduce paper consumption, printing waste, and paper waste, we no longer print the show program and floor plan.
Attendees and exhibitors can access the digital show guide and the floor plan on our website and via the IRE mobile app.

Signs & Graphics

Whenever possible, graphics are produced from environmentally responsible components with water-based inks and printed on
recyclable material.  As an annual event, we make sure to develop printed materials that can be reused.

Food Donations

The Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center makes food donations to local partners, coordinated by Centerplate, the in-house catering company.

Water

The Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center has over 20 water bottle filling stations throughout the convention center.
