The show was founded in 1955 by the National Roofing Contractors Association as the NRCA Convention and Trade Show. On May 18, 2004, Hanley Wood Exhibitions acquired the show and rebranded it as the International Roofing Expo (IRE). The IRE is now owned and produced by Informa Exhibitions U.S., who acquired Hanley Wood Exhibitions in December 2014.
