IRE Offers FAQ on Virtual Event and Expo Reschedule

The International Roofing Expo announced in December that it will launch a virtual conference and expo in 2021 in addition to the physical event. The virtual event will be held on March 2-4, and the in-person event is rescheduled from April to August 10-12 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas, NV. 

Here are answers to frequently asked questions from Ray Giovine, Informa Markets Group Director:

Q: Earlier this year, IRE was rescheduled from February to April. What went into the thinking to rescheduled again?  

A: The health and safety of everyone that participates in the International Roofing Expo is our top priority. Rescheduling the event to August will ensure a productive and relaxed environment for everyone.

Q: Why did you decide to do both a virtual event in March and a physical event in August?

A: With the transition of our live event to August, launching the virtual event in March created an opportunity to connect our audiences across multiple channels throughout the year. 

Q: Other than in person vs. online, what are the main differences between the virtual event and the physical event?

A: The virtual event will feature both live and on-demand educational sessions, a virtual exhibitor directory, a robust product directory, and AI power networking opportunities. The content will also be available for 30 days after the event ends.
The live event will continue to feature over 40 educational sessions, NRCA classes and events, the National Women in Roofing Day, an expo hall with 400+ companies, the 12th Annual Community Service Day, and a variety of networking opportunities. 

Q: What steps do exhibitors need to take to participate in both events?

A: Exhibitors that already have a booth booked for the in-person event are being contacted by their account executive regarding participation in both events. Exhibitors that are not currently signed up can reach out to their account executive or contact our team at [email protected] for details.

Q: What about hotel reservations?

A: The hotel block for the live event in August is scheduled to open in the spring.  If you booked a hotel for the original February dates you will be contacted regarding booking a new reservation once the new block is available. Make sure to join our email list to get a notification that the block is open.

Q: Any other steps attendees need to take? 

A: Registration for the virtual event will open late January and will open late March for the live event.  Make sure to join our email list to get a notification once registration is live.

Q: What steps is IRE taking to ensure that the physical event will be safe?

A: We will adapt Informa AllSecure, which is Informa’s approach to ensuring the highest standards of safety, hygiene, cleanliness, and quality for operating events. In addition to AllSecure, the show will follow all local government guidelines, as well as the Mandalay Bay Convention Center guidelines.

Q: Do you see this year’s virtual/physical schedule as a one-time offering or will it be a component going forward?

A: We anticipate that we will continue to offer a virtual component in addition to the live event in the future.
