The National Roofing Contractors Association has announced that National Roofing Week 2020 will take place Aug. 23-29 to raise awareness of the significance of roofs to every home and building. Usually celebrated in June, this year’s event was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. 

National Roofing Week serves as a reminder that the roof is one of the most important components of every structure. It is the first line of defense against natural elements, yet it is often taken for granted until it falls into disrepair. 

National Roofing Week also promotes the good deeds of the roofing industry and stresses the value of professional roofing contractors and the importance of making informed decisions about maintaining or replacing any roof system.

During National Roofing Week, NRCA encourages industry professionals to participate by engaging in their communities and informing the public about the essential role roofs and professional roofing contractors play in every community. 
In celebration of National Roofing Week, NRCA will host the We Are Family Raffle, sponsored by A.C.T. Metal Deck Supply, Aurora, Ill. NRCA member companies are invited to take a group photo of all employees--their roofing family--and submit it to NRCA for a chance to win a $500 prize. NRCA encourages participants to stay safe and practice social distancing when necessary while preparing raffle entry. 

Winning photos will be posted on NRCA’s social media platforms and included in future National Roofing Week promotions. Entries can be submitted to NRCA Manager of Online Communications Alyssa DeSantis at [email protected]; each entry must include the company name, city and state. The deadline for entries is Wednesday, Aug. 19. 

Additionally, in the spirit of the industry’s generosity, NRCA Giving Day will be held Tuesday, Aug. 25, to benefit the Melvin Kruger Endowed Scholarship Program and help shape the future of the roofing industry. The Melvin Kruger Endowed Scholarship Program helps individuals seeking to further their education to pursue careers in the roofing or building construction industries; employees of NRCA contractor and supplier members and their families are eligible. Scholarship recipients receive funding for up to four years of full-time study at any accredited post-secondary institution of the student’s choice. Donations currently are being accepted; NRCA Giving Day donations will close at 11:59 p.m. Aug. 25. NRCA also will share its roofing professionals’ stories through its various social media outlets and Professional Roofing magazine. Companies are encouraged to share photos with NRCA showcasing their signature residential and commercial  projects on Monday, Aug. 24; demonstrating their charitable giving on Tuesday, Aug. 25; showing employee appreciation on Wednesday, Aug. 26; demonstrating employee training on Thursday, Aug. 27; and highlighting how they celebrated National Roofing Week on Friday, Aug. 28. Participants are encouraged to use #NationalRoofingWeek as a hashtag in all social media posts!
